What this site records · September 20, 2026
Plainly, what we
keep and why.
This site argues that the customer’s experience deserves to be heard. It would be a poor argument if we were quietly doing to you what we are asking others not to do. So here is everything, in the order that matters.
No advertising. No third-party analytics. Nothing sold, and nothing shared with another company. What is recorded stays on the server that runs this site, and is read only by the people who publish it.
What is recorded when you visit
Like nearly every web server, ours writes a line for each request it answers:
- the date and time
- the page or file requested, and whether it was delivered
- the address your request came from (your IP address)
- the browser and operating system your browser reports
- the page that linked you here, when your browser sends one
Why: to keep the site working, to see what people actually read, and to understand which arguments reach anyone. Under European law that is a legitimate interest, and it is the same handful of facts your visit necessarily reveals in order to be answered at all.
What is stored on your device
One thing, and only if you choose it: your light or dark preference. When you press Light, Auto or Dark, that choice is saved in your own browser so the site looks the way you asked next time. It never leaves your device, it identifies nobody, and clearing your browser data removes it.
There are no advertising cookies here and no tracking pixels, and nothing from another company runs when you open a page. The one exception is the Substack sign-up form under “Get updates” on the home page: it comes from Substack, may set Substack’s own cookies, and follows Substack’s privacy policy. It loads only if you tap “Show the sign-up form”. That is also why you are not interrupted by a consent banner: consent is needed for putting things on your device, and this site does not do that beyond the preference you set yourself, unless you choose to open that form.
What the site measures as you read
To see what people actually read, the pages send short notes to this site’s own server as you use them: which page you are on, how far down it you get, how long it stays open, which sections you open, and which links and news articles you open. On the Siri life canvas it also notes which marks you open, whether you press Play, and how you sort or filter. Each note carries your screen and window size, language, time zone and light or dark setting, alongside the address and browser details described above.
It runs only on this site’s server. No third party receives it, none of it is used for advertising, and nothing is stored on your device to do it: each page view gets a throwaway number that exists only while the page is open. These notes are kept for one year, then deleted.
If you subscribe for updates
Subscribing is optional and separate from reading. The list is run on Substack, so your email address is stored by them rather than on this site, and their privacy policy governs it. You confirm from your own inbox, every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and nobody is added without asking.
We never sell or rent the list, and we do not use it for advertising. If you would rather not give an address at all, everything published here stays free to read without one.
If you tell us what happened
That form asks what you tried, what you expected, what actually happened, and what worked or could have made it better. It is for the times something worked as well as the times it did not — a pleasant surprise is as useful to us as a disappointment. It is also the one place on this site where you hand over something about yourself on purpose, so here is exactly what happens to it:
- What is stored: your four answers, the device or version you named if you named one, the display name you chose if you gave one — it does not have to be your real name — your email address if you gave one, and the two boxes as you left them.
- Kept alongside it, to stop automated abuse: the time you sent it and the address it came from. Nothing else.
- The “I’m not a robot” box: your browser solves a small puzzle set by this site’s own server, and the server checks the answer. It runs entirely here: no image puzzles, nothing sent to Google, Cloudflare or anyone else, and nothing about you is recorded by it. The only things kept are a note that the puzzle was used, so it cannot be used twice, which is gone within four hours, and a daily count of how many attempts the checks stopped, which says nothing about who sent them.
- Where: on our own server, in a place that is not part of the website and cannot be reached by any web address. No form service, no third-party database, no other company.
- Who reads it: the people who publish this site, behind a password.
We ask you to leave out private messages, account details, and anything that identifies another person — they did not come here and cannot agree to anything. If something like that reaches us anyway, we remove it.
Nothing is published unless you ticked the box, and nothing is published automatically. Your name appears only if you gave one and ticked the second box. An email address is never published, never added to any mailing list, and is used only to reply to you or to check a detail before publishing. If you want the updates list, that is a separate choice, described above.
If something of yours has been published and you later want it gone, write and say so. We will take it off this site. ⚠ But removing it here is not the same as erasing it from the internet: copies that search engines, archives or other people have already made are outside our reach, and anyone who promises otherwise is claiming more control than they have.
How long: the time and address kept for abuse-checking are deleted on the same twelve-month cycle as everything else here. Your account itself is kept while it is of use to the site — and removed whenever you ask, published or not. Write to p@siriology.com; no reason needed, nothing to pay.
How long it is kept
Twelve months. After that, records are deleted or reduced to counts that identify nobody. If that period ever changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and the new period applies from that day forward.
Where it is kept
On web hosting in the United States, provided by IONOS. If you are reading from outside the United States, your visit is recorded there.
What you can ask for
Write to p@siriology.com and you can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, or object to it being kept at all. You do not need to explain why, and there is nothing to pay. We will answer.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat that as an objection and do not add your visit to anything beyond the server’s own operating log.
Who is responsible
Siriology.com is published by VAULTCAST, INC., which decides what is recorded here and is responsible for it. Contact: p@siriology.com.
This page is written to the strictest standard we are aware of, so that it holds wherever you are reading from. If anything here is unclear — or if you think it falls short — write and say so. Terms of use.
